LI-NING CHINESE CULTURE SERIES   

Li-Ning, China's leading sport brand, was founded in 1990 by the renowned gymnast, Mr. Li Ning. Over the past 30 years, the brand has aimed to merge Chinese cultural elements with international popular trends. In 2022, Li-Ning was promoting its "Chinese Culture Series," which incorporates the culture of China's ethnic minorities into its designs and adds a modern twist. The first commercial in this series showcases the Bourau culture. I have an idea to create a video that highlights how Li-Ning incorporates Tibetan culture into its designs. In 2021, the brand held a show in Tibet, where a large Tibetan population resides. The video was produced by using After Effects and Cel Animation.

TREATMENT

Those with knowledge of Tibetan culture may conjure up images of customary attire and ornate designs. The video commences with a girl adorned in traditional Tibetan clothing, including elaborate hair accessories. The camera centers on her hair decorations, which come to life and unveil a series of intricate patterns that rotate and shift. In the midst of the design, a sphere emerges at the center, ascending before plummeting and transforming into a basketball. The ball rolls to the right and halts at the feet of a girl outfitted in Li-Ning sportswear. The shot then pans out to reveal the girl's entire body and the surrounding environment.

The hardest task in this project is to animate the flag. In order to show the flag's movement in the wind, I used puppet position pin tool to animate flags.
